We’ve spent a lot of time at home this year, and we’ve spent a lot of time playing games — gameschooling, primarily, but some just for fun. Here, in no particular order, are some of our favorite games of 2020:
Simple Rolled Beeswax Candles
This year, I was looking for something new and creative to do with the kids that would produce a useful end product, something we could use ourselves or gift to others, and I stumbled on this beautiful beeswax candle modeling kit. I ordered a set, and once it arrived, saved it for a rainy day.
2020: The Year of Focus
Because of the shakeup in our world and in or daily routines, we, like so many of our friends and neighbors, were forced to ask ourselves hard questions about what was really important: What could we keep? What could we let go of? What could we change or work around? What was essential?
Christmas – what’s important?
This year, in the midst of all the craziness, it feels even more appropriate to focus on how we embrace the season we’re in, make the most of it, teach our kids how to be adaptable, creative, flexible, and thoughtful.

Using HOMER for Online Reading Practice
We’ve tried a number of different reading apps over the years, some paid, and some free, and right now my 6 year olds are using HOMER for their reading practice. We’ve been using it for about a month now, and it’s been a good addition to our homeschool toolbox.
